Introduction:
This is an article about the formation of the moon and its effect on our earth. This explains a theory called giant splash theory which has been proven by NASA about the formation of the earth.
The real name of our moon is Luna.

Giant Splash:
Nearly 4.54 billion years ago an asteroid named Theia splashed on our earth. After that impact, the asteroid as well as some rock particles and dust was thrown away from earth to space. Due to the gravity of the earth, those particles started to revolve around our earth and after some time those particles joined together which resulted in the formation of our moon. It is also called a Natural Satellite as it contains rock particles of our earth.
Other Impacts of the asteroid:
This splash is the main reason of earth tilted about 23.5 degrees from its original position. Now our earth takes 23 hours 56 minutes and 4 seconds to complete its rotation, But During the early years after the formation of the earth it took only 4 hours to complete its one rotation, this impact played a major role in slowing down the rotation speed of our earth.

How our earth started to spin on its own?
The momentum that formed during the formation of the earth makes it spin on its own. Earth during the early period rotated very fastly. According to newton's law of motion, any object at rest will be at rest unless it is influenced by any external force. So the momentum made during the formation of the earth made it rotate. However, sometimes this rotation is reduced due to the decrease of momentum and other external influence is splashing of asteroids also disturbs the rotation.
Goldilock Planet: Earth is also called a Goldilock planet since life can survive on earth. Earth can sustain life since it is located in the habitable zone which is neither too hot nor too cold.

Before knowing this we should know about centrifugal force. Centrifugal force is a force from a body that is acted away from the center around which the body is moving. This is the main reason for the shape of the earth, due to its rotation the equator region is directed away from the center which gives the geoid shape due to centrifugal force.

Earth is the only planet that is suitable for living since we did not find any other planets that are suitable for living till now. NASA is working on an operation called SETI (search for extraterrestrial living) to find living beings on other planets. Humans are main responsible for polluting the earth, we should always preserve our earth for other living beings since there is no second chance for us to survive on other planets like earth.
